Mountaineering
Summer vacation and hiking are considered the highest form of enjoyment in Tyrol, especially in the Ötztal, which offers everything from walking tours for families to exciting glacier tours for ambitious mountaineers. And the different altitudinal zones leave nothing left to be desired: enjoy tours to alpine pastures and mountain restaurants, hike around one of the lakes in the valley, go on picturesque trails or venture out on challenging alpine tours – on your own or with a mountain guide. All in all, there are about 1,600 km (994 miles) of hiking and mountain trails, routes, climbing paths, and treks waiting to be explored. We wish you lots of fun and joyful experiences in the hiking mecca of Tyrol.

For climbing fans
No other valley in Tyrol has fantastic climbing areas and via ferratas so close together as in Ötztal. The valley is one of the few granite climbing areas in Tyrol. It provides a wide range of possibilities with its nearly 600 routes in various climbing gardens. It was here that the eminent Austrian alpinist and sport climber Reinhard Schiestl opened the first “Neuner” (highly difficult climb) in Tyrol in the early 80s and made climbing history.
In Längenfeld, you will find 7 climbing gardens and 2 via ferratas. The climbing garden Oberried and the via ferrata Lehner Wasserfall along the amazing waterfall are only 5 minutes walking distance from the Hannesnhof.
Whether you are a family with children or a hardcore climbing enthusiast, you will definitely get your money’s worth in Ötztal. It is impossible to list all the highlights of climbing gardens, via ferratas and outdoor activities here. The best thing is to come directly to Ötztal and explore all the climbing opportunities in person.
Swimming fun
for big and small
Wild or still – the Ötztal is filled with all types of waters. There is something for everyone: From Tyrol’s warmest and most idyllic swimming lake in Piburg, the Piburgersee / Lake Piburg (Ötz, about 15 minutes by car from the Hannesnhof), and healing springs, which emerge from deep within the earth, to the thrilling adrenaline kick on the steepest water slides and water ramps inside Area 47 (at the entrance of the valley, about 20 minutes by car from the Hannesnhof).
On hot and cooler days, water enthusiasts of all ages will be completely in their element in the outdoor and indoor swimming pools. The swimming pool in Längenfeld is located at the entrance to the village and offers pleasant sunbathing areas, framed by tall trees for shade.
Action inside AREA 47
A special highlight is Area 47, which offers a variety of water sports. The 20,000 m² (215,278 ft²) water landscape features pools, waterfalls, and slides. For athletic swimmers, there is a 50-meter Olympic pool, and adventurers should not miss the WAKE area.
Area47 is a great tip for people who want to experience real adventures during their active vacations – on the water (rafting, canyoning, or a raft tour), in the air (climbing in the high ropes course or at the Boulder Cave), and on land (cross-country skiing) in the 66,000 m² (710,418 ft²) Adventure Park.
