Skiing areas in the Ötztal
Skiing in Ötztal guarantees that all skiers and snowboarders get their money’s worth. With the two big skiing areas in Sölden and Obergurgl/Hochgurgl as well as the family-friendly skiing area Hochoetz and a few small skiing areas (e.g. in Gries or Niederthai) there are countless downhill slopes for all levels.
Sölden with the Ötztal Glacier is especially popular with advanced skiers and freeriders, since it is the highest ski area in Austria and therefore guarantees to have snow.

Tobogganing adventure
Adrenaline junkies and families with children alike get their money’s worth during tobogganing. The area around Längenfeld features especially beautiful natural toboggan slopes.

At the end of Gries/Längenfeld you go up to the Nisslalm snack bar. The ascent starts very flat and then leads upwards in curves with a moderate gradient. The Nisslalm snack bar is located on a plateau offering a wonderful view into the Sulztal valley. After a refreshment at the hut, the 5 km (3 miles) long natural toboggan slope leads down to the valley.
At the other end of Längenfeld you go up to the Wurzbergalm Inn. You will follow several serpentine roads up the forest road and into the idyllic forest. After about 1.40 hours you will arrive at the Wurzbergalm and can fuel up for the descent with delicious home cooking.
Ice skating

In the cold season, the Ötztal is a paradise for all those who like to glide on skids. In only 3 minutes by car or 25 minutes on foot you can reach the family-friendly ice skating rink in Längenfeld. You can rent ice skates and either enjoy a few rounds on the ice or try your hand at curling.
